Getting Online

The purpose of this guide is to provide English Language learners with a basic knowledge of using some common online tools and apps to support their integration into Irish society. The guide will show you how to download useful apps, access services and become familiar with aspects of Irish life.

Examples include:

• Setting up an email account
• Using search engines
• Looking for accommodation
• Using public transport
• Banking in Ireland
• Applying for a driver’s licence
• Accessing educational programmes
• Applying for benefits

The handbook is designed to give you some information about each topic, followed by a demonstration or a ‘how to’ guide and then some exercises for you to try. Bear in mind that not all phones or laptops are the same so there may be some differences from device to device.
